Tay Tay has released the first single from her long-awaited next album, Reputation, and this Taylor is a little darker than the one you may be used to.
The new song, Look What You Made Me Do, sees Taylor proclaim in an eerie voicemail recording that the ‘old Taylor is dead’, and if this song, which samples the 1991 single ‘I’m Too Sexy’ by Right Said Fred, is anything to go by, that may be very true.
With lines like; ‘”I don’t like your little games / I don’t like your tilted stage / The role you made me play / Of the fool / No, I don’t like you,” critics are saying the song is in reference to her feud with Kim and Kanye. I bet Katy Perry‘s happy that she’s escaped unscathed this time!
Taylor’s feud with Kayne all started back in 2009 when he interrupted her on stage as she accepted the 2009 MTV Video Music Award for Best Female Video to proclaim to the world that she didn’t deserve it. The feud was then reignited last year when Kanye rapped ‘I made that bitch famous’ in his song ‘Famous’ referring to the MTV incident. Taylor took issue with it, called him on it and a war of he-said she-said began with Kanye and Kim Vs Taylor. Kim then leaked a phone call between her husband and Taylor to prove Taylor approved the lyrics and Taylor called her out for ‘character assassination’, then Taylor went dark and had the quietest year of her career. Who knew that all this time she was plotting her revenge!
Take a look at her revenge, ah, song, here:
Taylor’s album Reputation will be released on November 10, her first album in ten years. We can’t wait!
