How does Eva Mendes get that gorgeous, bronzed skin?

Summer has hit and after a pretty sad and sorry kick-off, especially for those of us who live in Melbourne, Christmas Day provided us with the (very sweaty) goods; and it looks like the warm weather has well and truly set in for the 2016/17 season.

While bronzed skin isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, to many of us, summer and a bronzed glow go together like bacon and eggs – a combo that is unbeatable. But what to do if fake tan isn’t your bag and you’re not a fan of a tonne of make up everyday? Well, actress and stunning creature Eva Mendes has a pretty awesome trick that will give you a faux glow with minimal effort for the gal on the go – and you’ll only need TWO products.

Eva told InStyle mag, “A shimmery bronzer is the perfect way to look alive. If you don’t want to wear make-up, mix some moisturiser. You’ll look pretty but not made-up.”

A liquid bronzer is your best bet here – easily mixable with your go-to moisturiser. As an added bonus, a liquid bronzer soaks into the skin instead of sitting on top of it like your standard powder bronzer, so allows your natural skin to shine through and give you a fuss-free “I’ve spent the day at the beach” glow. You’ll need to have a play around with the ratio that is right for you, but we’d suggest trying a few drops added to your moisturiser (or regular foundation if you like more coverage) first and then adding or deducting as required until you’ve got the colour pay off that’s perfect for you. If you blend well, the products below can also be used on their own for a more intense pay-off.

Here are some of our faves in a mix of standard bronze and shimmesr:

Liquid Nars Laguna Bronzer: The original and much-loved powder bronzer is also available in a lightweight liquid form. For an all-over glow, mix with your regular foundation, pare it down with moisturiser or apply directly to the high points of your face. If you want to add a bit of shimmer, mix with your fave illuminator. Available at Mecca stores for $58.

In terms of application, focus on the points of your face that are the first to get hit by the sun, but go easy if your product is high shimmer. No one wants an overly shiny nose! Give the cheekbones the biggest hit of love here and don’t forget to blend with a brush or fingertips until there are no obvious edges in sight. Happy glowing!
