The easiest and yummiest frozen Rosé

It’s SO hot right now. I have spent the last couple of days indoors, air-con on, bra-off and generally hiding from the hideous humidity that makes my hair look like some kind of follicled fairy floss. But Saturday is New Year’s Eve and I will be forced to get my shit together and venture out of the house, put on something nice and join the party to officially welcome in 2017.

I love a par-tay. I’m a bit of a boozehound and while I will usually find any excuse to have a red wine or five, I just can’t bear the thought of drinking it in this heat. So what is a girl to do? Beer is refreshing, but after a couple I end up looking like Norm from the Life Be In It ads and the standard scotch and coke / vodka, lemon, limes are a bit of a bore really.

I want something cool and a little bit fancy. I want the alcohol equivalent of Danny and Sandy from Grease.

In the search for the drink that will make all my new year’s wishes come true, Monty told us about her Christmas day cocktail – The Frosé – and I was SOLD. It’s partially frozen like a slushy, so it’ll keep you nice and cool AND it has a swishy accent on top of the é, so that’s the fancy bit covered. Also, if you’ve got an ice-cube tray and a blender, you’re basically good to go – no Tom Cruise cocktail-shaking skills required.

Here’s what you’ll need:

1 x 750ml bottle of dry Rosé

2 cups of sliced, fresh strawberries (plus extra for garnishing purposes)

1 tablespoon white sugar

1/4 cup of vodka

2 tablespoons grenadine (basically, red cordial)

Here’s what you do:

– Pour your bottle of Rose into the ice cube trays and allow to set in freezer. This will take around eight hours, so best to do the night before.

– Add your sliced strawberries and sugar into a blender and let it just sit there for around 10-15 minutes at room temperature. You’ll notice the strawbs will start to release their juices.

– Chuck everything else into the blender (the vodka, rose ice cubes and grenadine) and whiz on high until smooth and slushy.

– Take a thousand pics of you and your peeps sipping on the grooviest drink in all the land. Upload to Insta before things get too messy….
