For many of us, reality TV is our ultimate happy place. Our chill-out zone. Our beloved shows are a feast of all things indulgent that are, in most cases, a thousand times removed from our own lives….and they’re just SO DAMN GOOD.
Apart from entertaining us for hours (and hours), a good dose of reality TV can spark a bit of creativity in the baby name department – because there have been some pretty cool names over the years. There’s a real mix in her and some big blasts from the past….
Saylor Cutler is daughter of Laguna Beach and The Hills cast member, Kristin Cavallari. Is this not the cutest little girl name getting around? Saylor also has two big brothers named Jaxon and Camden.
Who can forget one of the BEST makeover shows ever – Queer Eye for the Straight Guy? Or Kyan’s very cute face? This was the man responsible for the manscaping and all-round beautification of the boring straight dudes.
Remember Rob and Amber from the first series of US Survivor? Here they are in case you need a reminder:
These two fell in love, got hitched and had FOUR daughters in FIVE years – Lucia, Carina, Isabetta, and Adelina.
Celeb stylist and designer Rachel Zoe (of The Rachel Zoe Project) has two young sons, Skyler Morrison and Kaius Jagger. While their first names are super cute, we are seriously digging the rock star inspired middle names too.
We just bloody love Nicole Richie (who was on reality show The Simple Life with Paris Hilton) and the names that she and hubby Joel Madden (who was on The Voice Australia) chose for their kids. Daughter Harlow Winter Kate came first and was then joined by little bro Sparrow James Midnight. This is the coolest family getting around.
Talan Torriero was the resident ladies’ man on Laguna Beach with a spunk factor second only to Stephen. He married in 2014 and has a babe on the way.
There’s now doubt that Sophie Monk (who we met when she was on Popstars) will bring ALL the goods to the 2017 series of The Bachelorette. With the hilarious sense of humour we’ve come to know and love, we just can’t wait til Soph hits our screens in what promises to best of the Bachelor/Bachelorette series yet!
Jax Taylor is a regular on Monty’s fave show, Vanderpump Rules and word on the street over the past couple of months has been that he and girlfriend Brittany Cartwright are set to star in their own spin-off reality show. Life just keeps getting better and better for us junkies.
Remember Karise? She was the first winner of The Voice Australia back in 2012, taking the title out for Team Seal. As well as having some serious singing chops, Karise’s surname, Eden, is also a pretty awesome little girl’s name. Double points.
Bo Bile came runner up to American Idol winner Carrie Underwood and we LOVE the simplicity of his name. Two letters, one syllable, there’s no shortening this one!
The Real Housewives of Orange County’s Shannon Beador has three daughters with beautiful names, but Stella is our pick of the bunch. Her other girls are Adeline and Sophie.
The youngest of Keeping up with the Kardashians big sis Kourtney’s brood, Reign is a cutie patootie. Kourt and her ex Scott are also parents to Reign’s big brother Mason and big sis Penelope.
Another Laguna Beach goodie, Lexie Contursi was another Laguna Beach High School alum and appeared in season three. She was also a contestant on So You Think You Can Dance in 2010 and was a dancer in the movie La La Land.
Real Housewives of Sydney’s Krissy Marsh’s son is Billy and we love this name. It’s cute for a boy, strong for a man and is as uncomplicated as you can get. This one really stands the test of time.
Who’s your fave reality TV star of all time?
Here, Monty and Beth Macdonald from Baby Mac talk about their love of reality TV…
Megan Gale spoke to Monty about the beautiful meaning behind her son River’s name in an emotional On the Couch you can listen to below. Catch all our other On the Couch chats in pod form by subscribing here.
