Riding on the success of The Handmaid’s Tale, another of Margaret Atwood’s novels is being made into a Netflix TV series. This time it’s her psychological thriller based on a true story, Alias Grace.

The series centres around Grace Marks (played by Sarah Gadon) who in 1843 is convicted of the brutal murder of her employer and his housekeeper.  Grace was sentenced to life imprisonment and became one of the most notorious women in Canadian history for her supposed role in the double murder, and was eventually exonerated after 30 years in jail. Her conviction was controversial, and sparked huge debate about whether Grace was actually involved in the murder, or an unwitting accessory. So which one is the truth? Innocent or evil? I have no idea yet, but I’m hooked already!!

Edward Holcroft, Zachary Levi, and Anna Paquin co-star in the six part mini-series.

The series will air on Netflix on November 3, pop it in the diary.
