I have a big-time girl crush on Kristen Bell. She is one cool chick; the celebrity mum we all want to be besties with. She’s all about keeping it real, talking openly about depression, anxiety, couples therapy and what a down-right hard job it is being a mum.
This time, she has offered us parents a parenting hack that just may be a game changer for you.
The mum of two has let us in on her little trick to keep her kids, Lincoln, 4, and Delta, 2, safe in traffic. Any parent knows how tough it can be to get kids out of the car while keeping an eye on them and the traffic, and I reckon this is sure to make it easier – even like a little game for them. She calls the trick, “Hands on the circle!”
When her kids hop out of the car they have to say this phrase and put one hand on the “circle,” which is really the car’s petrol cap. While their little hands are safely on the circle, she unloads any shopping or anything in the boot without stressing that they will wander off into traffic; every parent’s worse nightmare.
Kristen says she can’t take all the credit for the idea. “‘Hands on the circle’ (the circle is the gas cap) was invented by my brilliant sister in law, and has thus far kept all kiddos safe from any oncoming traffic while I unload the trunk,” the actress wrote in an Instagram post which shows her daughters’ hands on the petrol cap.
Not only would she be a cool bestie, but one with some pretty bang-on parenting tips.
Do you have any tips to keep your kids safe when it comes to traffic?
