At some point in your life you definitely had Shania Twain’s lyrics stuck in your head (for WAY too long) and if you committed to pop culture like most teenagers in the 90s you also had her on your 1997 mixed tape. ‘Man I Feel Like A Woman’ was a song that took over the charts and still to this day is a major part of music history. I sang that song in my room while pretending to be Shania WAY more times than I’d like to admit. In my mind, I was Shania and I DEFINITELY felt like a woman – at the ripe old age of 15.
After a few years of trying to replicate that hit song, Shania disappeared. A marriage breakdown, crippling anxiety and stage fright saw her turn her back on the music industry.
But she’s BACK and her new song is giving her every bit of healing power possible (and a little revenge at the same time). The song ‘Life’s about to get good’ is her first single off her long-anticipated album, Now.
The song is about a broken relationship, which gives all the signs that it’s based on the break up of her marriage to Robert Lange after he cheated on her with her best friend after 17 years of marriage. She shows a picture of Robert while singing the lyrics, ‘It was time to forget you.’
Shania, 51, is now married to THE best friend’s ex-husband. Yes, you read right. And she’s as happy as a clam. And we are too – she’s back and sounds just as incredible as ever before.
Just in case you want a trip down memory lane – here’s ‘Man I feel like a woman’
