Ladiessssss be FREE!! Instagram has decided it will no longer ban the accounts of people who post photos of breastfeeding, stretch marks or post-mastectomy scarring. They have updated the guidelines to reflect those of its owner Facebook, after much pressure from the online community.
“We know that there are times when people might want to share nude images that are artistic or creative in nature, but for a variety of reasons, we don’t allow nudity on Instagram,” the new guidelines say.
“This includes photos, videos, and some digitally-created content that show sexual intercourse, genitals, and close-ups of fully-nude buttocks… It also includes some photos of female nipples, but photos of post-mastectomy scarring and women actively breastfeeding are allowed. Nudity in photos of paintings and sculptures is OK, too.”
This is an important and progressive move by Instagram and we are glad they have finally caught up with the times. But that said, there is no way I’m whipping out my phone to take a picture of my stretch marks – but ladies, you can now be free. Or, as free as you bloody well like…and that is how it should be!
