We are thrilled to share with you our latest interview for our new video and podcast series…The Change Up brought to you by TOM Organic.
We have been working with TOM Organic to find out what inspires a person to make a change? To choose a different path? To fight the status quo? To try and beat the odds? We asked a group of inspiring, creative visionaries about their “Change Up” — in their careers, personal lives, health, communities, or the world around them.
In this week’s episode of the Change Up, we chat to Hana Assafiri, a feminist Muslim who explains to us how those two words can very much go hand in hand. She is an activist for women’s rights and is creating a big change in her community. She hosts an event called ‘Speed Date A Muslim’ at her Moroccan Soup Bar in Melbourne to help break down the fear and divide between ‘us’ and ‘them’.
In this chat, Hana gives us so many insights into the Islamic faith (including the true meaning behind Ramadan, which blew our minds) and in particular, how Muslim women are perceived and portrayed in the media. This is one strong and confident woman who seriously inspired us and we know you will love her just as much as we do.
