How weird is it when you hear someone’s voice for the first time and they sound NOTHING like what you’d imagined? I always thought this about that singer, Anastacia, when I first heard her song I’m Outta Love on the radio. She sounded like a big, soulful, beautiful black woman, but turns out that fierce AF voice was coming out of a petite blonde.
Well this week’s Clip of the Week is another one of those surprising moments, but WAY better. When 13-year-old Courtney Hadwin hit the stage for her America’s Got Talent audition, she presented as a shy and nervous school girl. But boy oh boy, when this kid started singing she floored the judges and viewers big time, scoring the coveted ‘golden buzzer’ from Howie Mendel. Have a listen…
HOW GOOD is that song? We are seriously digging Courtney’s Janis Joplin-esque vibes on Hard to Handle, which was written and originally performed in 1968 by the legendary Otis Redding and has been covered heaps of times by artists like The Black Crowes, Tom Jones and Grateful Dead. This kid is seriously going places.
