We cannot believe that today marks 20 years since Diana, the ‘people’s princess,’ tragically died in a car accident in Paris.
I’m not sure why, but I don’t think I ever realised just how young she was at the time of her death – just 36 years old. That’s two years younger than I am, so it seems surreal that she’d made such and impact and accomplished so much in those short years.
Most of us will remember where we were at the exact moment we heard of her death. My friend Karen and I were at Crown Casino in Melbourne covering the opening of Planet Hollywood for our Uni newspaper and even though we met Will Smith that night, everyone was on a bit of a downer. Brooke remembers hanging out at her friend Elodie’s house and Stacey was rubbing Monty’s hamstrings before a lacrosse game.
What we’ll remember most about Diana was that she was a vulnerable, yet strong, woman who spent so much of her time doing good things for her fellow humans.
Here are some of our favourite pics of Diana, probably the most loved member of the royal family in history.
