As one of the world’s greatest comedians, entertainers and humanitarians, you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who doesn’t love, or at least really like, Ellen DeGeneres. Ellen has overcome some serious hardship and hurdles in her life and worked her ass off for yonks to get to where she is today – and lady has made some major coin in the process. She and her wife, Aussie actress Portia de Rossi, have pumped a good chunk of their kitty into a seriously impressive real estate portfolio and these ladies sure know what they’re doing.
Back in 2017, Ellen and Portia purchased this stunning home in the small Santa Barbara city of Carpinteria for $18.6 million big ones – and it is a piece of beachfront heaven right outta your dreams. Built in 1979, this four and a half bathroom, five bedroom pad sits on 1.13 acres of land and underwent a major spruce-up that included adding tonnes of glass to take in all those incredible ocean views.
Every inch of this place, from the stainless steel kitchen to the contrasting pale wooden floors, is coastal perfection. It’s decked out with home office, stunning fireplaces (including an outdoor one), fitness room, clay tennis court, gorge bedrooms and en suites with cracking views and a separate guest house with plunge pool to boot.
The pair have obviously made enough memories here and decided it’s time to move on… which is why they recently listed it for a very pretty $24 mil, meaning they’ll make close to $4.5 million from their original purchase price. Noice.
Take a look around…
Aussie writer, actress and producer, Robyn Butler, sat down with Monty a while ago to chat about her movie, Now Add Honey, which starred Portia deRossi. Robyn told us all about her process for making the movie and watching it in a private screening with Ellen and Portia! Listen below and subscribe here.
