This piece is brought to you by Carnival Cruise Line but it is my own blissful holiday experience. Mel x
When my mum turned 60 a few years ago, she worked some serious mama-style magic and planned a big family holiday for us. She’d been going on cruises for yonks and had been banging on to my brother, sister and I about how awesome they were. Even though we initially thought cruises were like floating retirement villages, we agreed to go – you know, just to make her happy.
How wrong we were.
From the minute we stepped onboard our Carnival cruise, we were into it. Big time. The festive atmosphere was amazing as staff dished out cocktails and we began indulging in a huge variety of delicious food options that, for the entire nine nights, never seemed to end.
Here’s the beauty I’ve come to learn about cruising – you can do as much or as little as you want. Wanna sit by the pool and sip on mojitos at your leisure? Done! Wanna take the kids on one of the epic slides, go for a round of mini-golf with your new bag from https://www.pineclubgolf.com/best-golf-travel-bags/, and then catch an awesome stage show later on? Yes! Wanna get off and get all adventurous at one of the stunning ports? Yes. You. Can! The only thing that is a given on a cruise is that you will have NOTHING to do except for what YOU want to do.
Your room is serviced daily, with the hospitality staff going above and beyond. There is also a delicious array of dining options onboard. We woofed down the best burgers of our lives at Guy’s Burger Joint, indulged in gorgeously fresh sushi at Bonsai and even had a romantic couples dinner at the fine dining Nouveau Restaurant.
The kids lived their best lives in the arcade area, played endless games of basketball on the courts and had fun in the sunat the awesome onboard waterpark. The epic Green Thunder slide got a serious workout not only from our kids, but from us big kids too. There was time for us to do EVERYTHING – from morning walks on the jogging track to a great workout in the fabulous gym. My sister and I hit up the onboard spa and had a massively indulgent facial and massage that was HEAVEN, while our partners and kids got right into the afternoon Bingo sesh. It’s a holiday that basically caters to a variety of age-groups, from tiny tots to your grandpa – it’s a heap of fun for the whole family.
Our cruise took us from Sydney to the Pacific Islands and these places are like little pockets of paradise we probably never would have considered going to on a regular holiday. Think white sandy beaches and crystal blue water inhabited by the friendliest locals who are always up for a chat and keen to show you the hidden gems of their gorgeous slice of heaven. It was island-hopping at its finest because there was no need to catch flights and handle baggage – you simply walk off the ship when you want and then head back at your leisure… and let me tell you, with six kids in tow, this was BLISS.
Look, we all have different ideas of what the perfecto holiday looks like, but if 100% pure relaxation and indulgence, awesome sight-seeing and adventure is your cup of tea, then I’d seriously consider a Carnival cruise for your next trip. Add in delicious, non-stop food like free 24/7 pizza and ice cream, gorgeous cocktails, free kids’ clubs, an adult’s only retreat, waterparks, and dive-in movies all while you’re ON YOUR WAY to your destination, and I’d say you’ve got your dream vacay sorted.
