If there’s a barometer for ‘making it’ in the home stakes, I guess it’s when you can custom build a fireplace for the sole purpose of Christmas stockings. Of course, we already know Jess Alba has made it – she’s been living in made-it land for ages now. We’ve featured several of her homes on the site over the years, but it’s her latest family dream home in Los Angeles that we are fawning over a little more than the rest.
Jess and her kids (daughters Honor and Haven and son, Hayes) opened the door to their recently renovated US$10 million dollar home and gave Architectural Digest the FULL tour and it’s pretty bloody special.
It turns out that Jessica is a Pinterest freak just like the rest of us and used it to pull loads of ideas for the home, which she said was inspired by a mix of “old world french vibes” and modern french apartments.
The thing about this home is that while it’s incredibly beautiful and well thought-out, it’s massively practical for a family with three young kids and feels really homely. There’s a gallery wall filled with family pictures so the kids can see where they’ve come from, a backyard that any kid would swoon over (including a hand-me-down play set from friends) and slip covers on the couches and dining room chairs, ‘cos…. washable. Speaking of washable, the laundry room is organised bliss that would MAKE you want to spend time in there.
Each kid shows off their room (Honor’s fairy light wall is too cute) and mama Alba also gives an awesome – and again, practical – tip about where to put your kid’s stinky change table that makes tonnes of sense. Then there’s the stunning kitchen and the master bathroom that has the BEST shower/bath set up we’ve ever seen.
This vid ain’t #1 trending on YouTube for nothing. Enjoy….
Here are some snaps if you want to paste any to your own vision board…
