COVID-19 life sure is shite, but the peeps over at beauty wonderland Mecca have been hard at work to bring us a lil’ bit of joy in these glum times by launching a new bod range and we want it ALL.

As part of their Mecca Cosmetica Signature line, the beauty gods are bestowing on us a Mecca Athletica range and it includes a very epic-sounding Body Boot Camp natural deodorant ($26). The 100% vegan, cruelty-free and aluminium-free formula is chockers with stench-fighting ingredients like Kaolin clay (to soak up all that excess oil, minus the dryness), Tapioca starch (to absorb the sweat) and Tea Tree leaf (to zap the bacteria that causes the pong). It’s also got loads of skin-loving stuff in there too, like jojoba and raspberry seed oil, which have the benefits of protecting the skin’s barrier function and keeping the delicate underarms moisturised and supple.

What you WON’T find in this beauty? Stuff like sulfates, parabens, alcohol, mineral oil, synthetic fragrances and more. It’s also made here in the land down under and the packaging is shit-hot, so it’s a winner all-round.

no nasties here

body wash? yes please!

Included in the new Athletica range is the Ultra-Firming Body Lotion ($40) containing lactic acid, an AHA that dissolves all that dead, surface skin to reveal the glow hidden underneath. Glycerin hydrates the skin and helps maintain its pH balance and Proteasyl assists with skin elasticity and firmness to keep the skin on your bod looking all bouncy and juicy.

Rounding out the new trio is the Skin Perfecting Body Wash ($36), which will unclog those pores, exfoliate dead skin and hone-in on those pesky bumps and irritation thanks to ingredients such as 8% AHAs (courtesy of glycolic acid), PHA (polyhydroxy acid, which is gentler than regular AHAs) and Siberian Ginseng, which targets age spots, fine lines and contributes to an all-round healthy appearance to the skin.

The idea behind the range is to give the skin on your body the same kind of attention we give to the skin on our face… and I’m not sure about you, but my body skin is a very poor fourth cousin to my facial skin. So time to amp up the game and give that bod some love!

The range is available at Mecca stores online and in-store (excluding Vic) now.
