Dad battling brain cancer leaves ICU to be at his son’s birth

Unique doesn’t even come close to describing this birth story. Cagney Wenk was diagnosed with stage four brain cancer just three weeks before his fiancee, Jessica Li, was due to give birth to their beautiful son. Being able to imagine how that would feel for both of them is almost impossible and utterly heartbreaking.

Cagney’s aggressive glioblastoma was located deep in his brain and meant that he had to have several procedures, radiation and chemotherapy. He was literally recovering from brain surgery in the same hospital his son was being born on the day Jessica went into labour. Incredibly, it was the nurses at the hospital in Boulder Colarado that contacted Sarah Boccolucci to come and take photo’s for the couple. But, she also made this incredible video that they can treasure forever.

This almost broke me when I saw Cagney’s reaction to hearing his son cry for the first time. This is just so incredible.

Wishing this beautiful family lots of love, happiness and good health. x
