The childcare centre my 4-year-old daughter attends closes at 6.30pm. One time I was caught up at work and made the dash just in time, or so I thought, to arrive at 6.25pm. As I approached the centre I noticed it was in darkness. There was just one staff member left who greeted me at the front door holding my child’s hand, her bag packed and handed her straight over to me…without me stepping a foot in the door. I doubled checked my watch to make sure I wasn’t late but no it definitely wasn’t 6.30pm. To be honest I felt a little judged FOR ARRIVING ON TIME.
I recently heard a story of a mum who was told the centre would have to start introducing ‘late fees’ if she keep picking her daughter up at closing time, which is totally crazy and umm… kinda doesn’t make sense. If the centre advertises it closes at 6.30pm then I think it’s ok to turn up at 6.30pm!!
Do you feel judged if you pick your kids up from childcare at closing time?
