Who did you have in your delivery room?

Who did you have in the delivery room when you gave birth? I always knew that my husband would be in there (obvs), but it was really important to me to have my mum there also. Having vaginal births allowed me this option and giving birth to my children in front of the woman who gave birth to me was pretty bloody awesome. Plus, my mum is the person who holds everyone’s shit together, so I knew if and when I started to lose control (which I did) she could take the reins and pull me back out of myself (which she did).

There was a moment in time during my pregnancy though, where I considered having other family members in the room during my delivery. Thankfully, my husband talked me out of this but both my brother and sister came in during my labour and laughed at me while I toked on the gas like a mad woman. Once the animal-style grunt fest began, they high tailed it out of there and THANK GOD for that, because if they’d stayed, they would have witnessed two deliveries that day. And one come out of my bum.

Who could forget THIS televised moment of Kourtney giving birth to Mason?

In case you hadn’t heard (jokes) Kylie Jenner gave birth to her daughter on Feb 1st and in true Kardashian-style, she had a room full. Kris and Khloe were there, her partner Travis Scott was there and Kendall even Face-Timed in for the action. We won’t know until the next promos for KUWTK drop, but there’s a chance she might have had a full camera crew in there too. Profesh lighting and all.

It’s funny how different we all are when it comes to huge life events that often leave us at our most vulnerable, like childbirth. Some of us couldn’t imagine sharing that moment with anyone other than our partner and some of us take comfort in having an entire support team of friends and family to share the experience with. That’s the beauty of it – there’s actually no ‘correct’ way to do it, because if you feel loved and supported during those moments, then you’ve done it right.

Rachael Finch spoke to us about her two VERY different births during our On the Couch chat, and now you can listen in podcast form below while you’re on the go….and don’t forget to join our pod gang by subscribing here.
