Remember the first time you saw your baby? Chances are it had a scrunched-up little face, possibly a bit of a conehead, and most definitely a stunned and confused facial expression that reeked of ‘put me back in!’ While those first snaps of your babe’s immediate departure from the womb are of course special, they all look pretty samesies and to be honest, I reckon I’d struggle to recognise my own baby in a line-up.
Unless you’re the parents of this kid…
Look at that mop of dark hair.
Look at that gorgeous nose.
Look at that…. IUD in its hand.
The recent arrival, a little boy, was welcomed at Northern Vietnam’s Hai Phong International Hospital giving the major middle finger to the makers of his mama’s IUD contraceptive which he was born clutching firmly in-hand.
Obstetrician Tran Viet Phuong snapped the pic immediately after delivery when she noticed the baby holding on to the device that was, um, designed to prevent him from actually, you know, being there. The 34-year-old mum, who remains anonymous, had the IUD contraceptive fitted two years ago which proved effective until… it wasn’t, and she welcomed her third bundle of joy weighing in at a healthy 3.4kg.
Unsurprisingly, the picture has gone viral around the world. Let’s hope he’s a great sleeper for his shocked mum and dad!
