Selena Gomez opens up about her kidney transplant

It’s true what they say about your best friends – they are the family you choose. I have always sincerely believed this. I don’t have sisters (I was tortured blessed with all brothers). My girlfriends are my sisters. My best friend in the entire world is Monty and there is sincerely nothing I wouldn’t do for her. I feel like someone gifted me with her for a reason and I will never take that for granted.

One of the best lessons my mother ever taught me was how to be a good friend. How to have the hard conversations, when to ask for help, when to give help, when to let them go and when to hold on for dear life.

The friendship I’m talking about has never been more obvious than when I watched Selena talk about her life or death health scare. It’s no doubt that the whole world knows Selena Gomez, and that is no exaggeration. She is the most followed Instagrammer in the world with over 129 million – she is LOVED like no one else in the entertainment industry. Selena had told the world that she was unwell at times, and revealed she had Lupus…but she shocked everyone when she revealed she had a kidney transplant back in September – and the donor was her best friend, Francia Raisa.

For the first time Selena has opened up about her health and her kidney transplant…alongside Francia. Francia talks about her decision to give Selena one of her kidneys. Their story is beautiful, raw, sad and triumphant. A friendship that will last forever.
