Do you feel you’re coping as a parent? As a professional? As a WOMAN?
I’m happy to admit that almost on a daily basis, I’m not. It’s very, very easy to get so bogged down in the day to day happenings of life that you can feel like you’re drowning. Whether you’re a stay-at-home mum, a working parent or a childless professional, the weight of trying to succeed in every aspect of our lives is weighing us down. Seriously.
UK spa brand Sanctuary Spa conducted an interview which revealed that a shocking 12 million women feel as though they’re about to burn out. Furthermore, 80 percent of women admit to not feeling good enough, with four out of five saying they put too much pressure on themselves.
These results are alarming, but are we really surprised? Every woman I know seems to be fighting like mad to keep their heads above water most of the time.
The weight of trying to succeed in every aspect of our lives is weighing us down.
I’m not sure about you, but I know I’m never really “there” when I’m anywhere. When I’m with my kids, I’m obsessing over the work I should be doing, when I’m working, I’m feeling guitly about not being with my kids. I am light years away from perfection and I know it, but that doesn’t stop me from feeling shit about not being there.
Feeling as though you’re failing to succeed as a parent, as an employee, as a wife, a daughter, and a friend, can make you feel hopeless and quite frankly, it can really suck the enjoyment out of life.
When we’re at a point where everything feels hard, when we’ve become so oblivious of the beautiful moments in our lives that we’re not even aware that they’re happening, we need a little reminder.
This video is it.
As part of their research, Sanctuary Spa made this short video of older women giving their advice to modern women about the importance of appreciating the little moments that are often the most precious. The things they would have done differently if they had their time over again.
This two minute video as part of the #LetGo campaign is something all women should watch.
Because sometimes we all need a little reminder to stop, take a breath, turn off and just live.
