The very cool DJ, musician, and model Solange Knowles knows a thing about hosting a party! The little sister of Beyonce opens the door to her ultra-hip Brooklyn home. Solange is known for mixing prints and patterns when it comes to fashion, and the same rule applies to her home. Mixed prints feature throughout the home – even when it comes to the dining table!
Solange has invited NYC musicians, designers, writers, and artists for cocktails and one of her signature “rowdy, to the wee hours, roll up the rug” dance parties.
When it comes to entertaining, she says, “My motto is ‘Just keep it chill.’ ” Starting with the music, which tonight is a mix of Toni Braxton’s “You’re Makin’ Me High”, A Tribe Called Quest, and Lil Wayne.
Usually the starlet likes to cook family style, but tonight she’s asked friend and Grizzly Bear bassist Chris Taylor, who happens to have a cookbook in the works, to make a few of his specialties: rosé-soaked peaches, prosciutto-wrapped cantaloupe with mint, shiitake toast, and steak-tartare crostini. For dessert, Taylor’s prepared goat cheese with Beaujolais-soaked cherries on toast.
Check it out for yourself… (take note of her seriously cute son, 9 year-old Julez Smith.)
