This is one incredible story from one incredible woman who is showing the world the meaning of believing in yourself.

Shalom is a 20-year-old make-up artist from Nigeria who now lives in the US. When Shalom was nine-years-old, she was burnt by hot oil in an accident at her family’s shop.

The skin on her face, her hands and her shoulders were burnt and she lost most of her hair.

“When I was in middle school, because of my scars, I used to wear makeup and I actually didn’t use foundation, I used concealer all over my face caked on just to conceal my scars,” Shalom said in a recent YouTube video. “Even with that much makeup, I still was unhappy, so makeup should not make you happy.”

Shalom was teased by other kids because of her burns but after learning to further refine her makeup skills via YouTube tutorials the teasing stopped as her classmates started asking her to do their make-up and she agreed  — for a fee.

Now she’s sharing her awesome make-up skills with girls all over the world on her YouTube channel, Shalom Blac and her instagram page makeupbyshalom.

But she never shys away from a before and after pic and the beauty  of being comfortable in your own skin. “You should love yourself either way – makeup or no makeup. Make-up is not the reason I’m happy. I’m happy because I love myself.”

What a truly AMAZING woman Shalom is and an absolute inspiration for girls around the world, showing us all the meaning of beauty inside and out. And her make-up skills are MAD!
