How Facebook are letting Aussies show their support for marriage equality

It’s such a shame that in 2016, Australia has STILL not legalised same sex marriage. Quite frankly, we reckon it’s just down right ludicrous and massively embarrassing.

Today, Facebook (who are an official sponsor of this year’s Mardi Gras) introduced a new rainbow flag banner that us Aussies can use to show our support for the LGBT community’s fight for equality, developed in conjunction with the Australian Marriage Equality advocacy group.

The new banner, a big, bright rainbow splash of colour with the statement “I heart marriage equality” can be added to your profile picture  by heading over to the Australian Marriage Equality page and clicking either “try it” or “use frame” depending on the device you’re using. You can also click on the profile pic of a friend who has the banner and follow the prompts to install on yours.

According to Facebook, Australia’s fight for marriage equality was our country’s eleventh most talked about issue on the social media platform in 2015.

This gorgeous video on marriage equality, We Will, is so beautiful and shows why all the colours of the love rainbow deserve not only be recognised in the same way as heterosexual couples, but celebrated with all the gusto in the world.

Can we seriously EVER have too much love??
