Something wonderful happened last weekend at the 2015 Lingerie Fashion Week in New York City.
Something wonderful that involved the words “Anti” and “Victoria’s Secret” in the same sentence.
Don’t get me wrong…..I love watching the VS annual fashion show. Love it. I especially love watching it in my mismatched bra and undies combo while scoffing some kind of chocolatey, twenty thousand calorie dessert. Or eating Nutella straight from the jar (it’s the only way, right?) wondering why I don’t look like Alessandra D’Ambrosia. Why? WHYYYYY?
Of course I know it’s the Nutella.
Anyway, in response to the VS ‘perfect bodies’ campaign, which they claim refers to their ‘Body’ bra range, the Anti-Victoria’s Secret show showcased lingerie on women of all shapes and sizes and was awesomely hailed as the ‘real perfect bodies’ show.
And perfect they were. Delicious curves and lovely slim frames shared the catwalk alongside gorgeous pregnant mamas and fabulously hot women who were either currently fighting, or survivors, of breast cancer.
Lingerie Fashion Week founder, Lauren Rich, summed it up beautifully:
“From the beginning we envisioned Lingerie Fashion Week as a platform to embrace and celebrate a wide range of intimate apparel brands, and hence body types, from petite to full bust to full figure to maternity. Lingerie is not one-size-fits-all, and neither are the women who wear it—on, and off, the runway.”
Bravo Lauren. Bra-freakin’-vo.
Feast your eyes on some of the show’s gorgeous pics. Nutella optional.
Happy weekend xx
