Lifestyle, What's On Our Mind

Soon to be first time mamma Zoe Foster Blake has been one busy babe

I feel tired just reading what Zoe Foster-Blake has been up to over the past couple of years. For Zoe, there have been novels to write and promote, a beauty website to maintain (Fruity Beauty), a brand new skincare line to develop and of course, a tiny human to grow.

Zoe seems to have donned more hats than seen in Devo’s ‘Whip It’ film clip (if you’re under 30, Google it – you won’t be disappointed).

zoeZoe’s future shining star will obviously be their baby, but a very close second is her skincare line, Go-To.

I was lucky enough to score a couple of products from the line and have been using them exclusively for the past few weeks. Friends, I have MUCH to report.

First off, all of Zoe’s products are free from Petrochemicals, PEG’s, Mineral Oils, Parabens, Sulfates, Silicones, GMO’s, Synthetic Colours and Fragrances and animal testing and are packed with beautiful, natural, skin-loving ingredients. Seeing as the skin is our largest organ, which can absorb up to 60% of what we put on it directly into our bloodstream, it definitely pays to cut out the shit where possible and add goodness in its place.

I love the idea of toxin-free skincare, but in the past have found that they haven’t always delivered in the results department and I have almost always defected back to my chemical-laden faves. This is where Zoe has triumphed. Big time.

Let’s begin with the Exfoliating Swipies. This little tub of goodness holds 50 disposable rounds, each with a textured side to buff off all that nasty dry skin that sits on the surface of your face masking the new, fresh skin underneath. They are packed with AHA’s and hydrating essential oils and there is no skimping here – these babies are soaked in the stuff.

For exfoliating pads, they are not at all scratchy, but you can definitely feel them working. They smell like a beauty spa, but not overpoweringly so – kind of like the scent in the spa’s reception area, but not as full on as the treatment rooms.

They left a slight tingle on my face, but in a good way – a little whisper to say “our work here is done.” My skin, which is partial to dry areas, particularly around the nose, loved these. It’s incredible the difference they made to the brightness and evenness of my complexion.

After using them (which Zoe recommends you do at least once a week, no more than three) my moisturiser felt like it was really absorbing into my skin, not just hanging around on the surface. It also gave my foundation a beautiful, even surface to work it’s magic on.

So, I loved the Swipies BUT the Very Useful Face Cream? Let’s just say that a love affair reminiscent of Rhett and Scarlett in Gone With The Wind has begun. This stuff is incredible. I really wanted to consult the Thesauras to knock out some fancy pants words to describe how it made my skin look and feel, but to be honest, I don’t think you can go past good ol’ ‘dewy’ and ‘hydrated’.

I have been applying this cream both morning and night and I swear to you, it is heaven. I’m going to go as far as to say that I feel as though it has plumped my skin up so much that my fine lines and wrinkles are noticeably diminished. This is a massive call, I know, but something in this is working on a whole other level to anything else I’ve ever used.

The face cream is thick and creamy and contains anti-oxidants like CoQ10, Vitamin E, the tasty-sounding Amla Berry and natural oils, all to combat our nemesis, premature ageing.

A little goes a long way, but I do slather it on at night and use a little more sparingly in the morning. Since using it, I’ve also noticed that after cleansing, my skin no longer has that tight feeling. It’s like it’s constantly in hydration mode.

I love the fact that Zoe’s fingerprints are all over these products, and I mean this both literally and figuratively. The packaging (a lovely white and soft coral) is dotted with fingerprints and the text looks finger painted – I don’t know if these are actually Zoe’s fingerprints, but unless you have access to some intricate fingerprinting equipment, we’ll never know.

Zoe has injected the quirky personality that we love her for into her Go-To line. They are absolutely, unmistakably her -her playful wittiness is all over this stuff, from the brochure to the copy on the back of the products themselves. A chuckle whilst doing the daily skin routine is always a bonus, I say.

Zoe has created five products, all designed to work together to make skincare easy peasy for us all- Exfoliating Swipeys, Very Useful Face Cream, Properly Clean (cleanser), Exceptionoil (multi-purpose body oil) and Lips (an engine degreaser)…..joke, it’s clearly a lip balm.

So, like everyone else, I am a overly eager to try the rest of the products, which I assume will also exceed expectations if the ones I have tried are anything to go by.
